Raven Grace, the movement magician, has easily invested over 100,000 hours into physical movement practices. Coming from a youngster in pain who was unable to walk on a decline without knee pain and had scoliosis, to still breakdancing at 36, Raven realises there is no end in sight and learning is a lifelong process.

Raven first found Acro and partnering at Professional Dance School, (think Dirty Dancing high bird) and more, single handed movement lifts and standing Acro to enhance performance on stage. He later came across L-Basing Acro Yoga and Therapeutics while studying Shiatsu, and hated it. What was this half acrobatics/half massage, posing as Yoga thing done by un-committed, un-trained hippies in the park?

That was it for Acro Yoga, pushed to the side until one year later. Volunteering at 'Lentils as Anything' in Abbotsford Melbourne, it was at a co-workers party, Acro Yoga arrived again. And this time he had completed his first round of study in Oriental therapies and had new eyes for the potential of Acro Yoga. What could be seen now was the healing potential of Acro Yoga in society and social gatherings. Acro Yoga is a gateway for everyday people to reconnect with themselves and their joyful spirit through having fun, being present, connecting with others and returning to safety within relationships.

Raven began to notice peoples fears and resistance to change start to drop away almost instantly after a good Acro Yoga session. People became more warm and open, bringing more enthusiasm and excitement about life again. With this new insight, Raven devoted thousands of hours learning, practicing and performing Acro Yoga. A journey that became a full-time career, taking him to 20 different countries and creating some of the best moments for his life and others.

Raven is passionate and excited for each and every students journey that walks in the door for the first time or the thousandth time. In his spare time, Raven is a full-time student of life, studying whatever takes his interest, especially in the realms of movement, health and East Asian medicine. He believes good teachers never stop learning and even though we can do most things by ourselves, it is the relationships that we cultivate that nourish our lives the most.

DEAN PHILP

Dean from Moving Puzzles helps you connect your perceiving-mind with your interacting-body, specialising in partner and teamwork. Coaching team sport for over a decade, he loves facilitating experiences where emergent group behaviour unlocks new insights and skills for participants. As a Parkour coach, he helps people ask how our movement through spaces and places is influencing the questions we ask and problems we perceive. As a Fighting Monkey instructor, he leverages the concept of dexterity – mental and physical fluidity – to help broaden your awareness. He uses movement tasks, games, coordination riddles and embraces improvisation to expand sensory-motor creativity, as well as reveal hidden value in the world around us. Right now he runs weekly group movement classes in Adelaide, private coaching, as well as creativity & team-building workshops for corporate, academic and community groups.

Deans passion for movement is inspiring. He rises and sets with the sun adhering to his practice of movement exploration diligently and with enquiry. When we first met, the nickname “Flowing Spring” jumped out, and it’s since evolved into the “Running River” as Deans flow and strength has gained even more momentum. He somehow expands uncomfortable situations to the point of awkward and then skilfully reverses them, inviting students to find their way and that it is okay to be uncomfortable in learning and in life. His passion is contagious; before you know it you are moving by inspiration.

During our Acro Yoga Teacher training, Dean will share how we can transfer our perception from individual practice into partner-based movement situations, game exploration and some surprising surprises.

AVA CHEN & YOO HYEONGYEOMG

Ava and Yoo met in Bali during their Zenthai Flow facilitator training and have since been working together as a team, sharing the Art of Zenthai in Adelaide.

Zenthai Shiatsu is a movement-based therapy that fuses the traditions of Zen Shiatsu, Thai Massage, and Osteopathy. These practices are woven together through the intricate system of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the rich depth of mindfulness, effectively balancing the physical with the energetics.

Yoo is a Remedial massage therapist and Zenthai Shiatsu practitioner from TrustYooWellness. Her love for healing touch had developed since childhood. The power of somatic release she has experienced through bodywork and therapeutic Acro yoga continues to inspire her enthusiasm to share movement practices and bodywork with others.

Ava started The Wild Circle to intentionally create safe spaces for meaningful and dynamic interactions to take place. She believes in the healing power of authentic relating, which is the beautiful essence of Zenthai. Her favourite aspects of bodywork are creative explorations and the practice of deep listening.

The core principles of Zenthai are fluidity, heartfulness and totality. Bodywork becomes a full body prayer, a deep conversation beyond words, and focused intention that dissolves fixations. Ava and Yoo are stoked to share this art with the community.

It has been so great to have Ava and Yoo at our winter and spring Acro Camps in 2023. They both have an abundance of bodywork and energetic offerings. They will be joining us in March for our Acro Yoga Therapeutics and Bodywork modules. Bodywork informs and develops physical sensitivity, listening and awareness skills, which are all essential in being a great partner, flyer, spotter or base.

We are sure you will come away from your time with Ava and Yoo with a great appreciation and some great techniques you can share with your students, friends and your family.

KELLIE BARRETT

Kellie from Breath Alchemy is excited to empower you to weave the playfulness, fun and challenge of Acro Yoga with the calm, balance and focus of breathwork.

She is passionate about assisting people of all ages in finding grace, freedom and ease in life through the breath, knowing that our breath is with us from the moment we are born until the moment we leave our bodies, we breathe around 25,000 times a day, and as the breath is both conscious and subconscious the power is within us to choose if we breathe to our benefit or to our disadvantage.

Conscious breathing became Kellie’s anchor when she struggled with anxiety 11 years ago, this deep daily awareness of the breath allowed her to move through pain, finding freedom and self discovery. Having worked with people of all ages sharing pranayama (yogic breathing practices) in her yoga classes for 11 years, she took a deeper dive into the world of the breath when she discovered activated breathwork and trained with Sky Bear in his Breath Works Breathwork Academy. Since then she’s taught people within the community of all ages (including school students and teachers) how to use the breath as a tool to assist in calming, energising, balancing, focusing, self awareness or even to take you into a non ordinary state of consciousness where it’s possible to tap into the subconscious mind, recalibrate the energetic imprint within the body and release unprocessed emotions…the breathe truly is a well being source just waiting for us to discover how to best use it.

Kel runs a successful yoga studio called ‘Hill St Yoga’ in Port Elliot, South Australia, running Hatha, Restorative and Yin Yoga Classes, Full Moon rituals with Mandalas and Fire Magic as well as Yoga by the Beach.

DAN AUBIN

“Forget balance, become good at balancing” - says Dan.

This is a concept that he has been exploring his entire life - As an elite gymnast, professional acrobat, director, communication lecturer, speaker and coach.

Dan was there at the beginning of one of the main streams of Acro Yoga. The concept took full bloom in Winnipeg, Canada during an early morning hotel room Jam Session, 12-4 am, with Eugene Poku & Jessie Goldberg in March 2003. “After travelling to their studio in Montreal to exchange insights and techniques through a public workshop, we concluded that Yoga and Acrobatics have a common ground; “being in the moment". Acro Yoga Montreal has developed a deep and creative line of practice that continues today: https://acroyoga.com/

Dan has shared his teaching and practice across many fields.

One of his proudest achievements is his contribution to the founding members of Gravity & Other Myths through a five-year intensive training and performance program he developed at Cirkidz in Adelaide as Artistic Director / Head Coach.

“I sold them the idea that anything was possible, in the body, in art and life… and they bought it and ran with it…big time!” https://www.gravityandothermyths.com/

Based on his research, Dan founded Daring Humans in 2017 to explore the relationship between movement, communication and creativity. He now works as a communication consultant, speaker and coach who helps people and organisations bring important ideas to life. His focus is creating engagement, clarity, and ultimately connection.

Dan holds degrees in Communication, English and Drama and has worked as a full-time lecturer / researcher at Charles Sturt University winning awards for excellence and innovation. His movement and teaching foundations were first developed as an athlete and coach at the Olympic Training Centre in Canada.

Dan’s experience ranges from designing corporate leadership programs to stunt doubling Mark Wahlberg; performing Slam Dunk Acrobatics in NBA Stadiums to teaching medical educators communication; facilitating strategic plans for cities to coaching business leaders through change.  It is not surprising that his approach is both highly technical and deeply playful.

Dan is also someone who has had to find and re-find balance in his life in quite dramatic ways. In his keynotes, he shares stories and tools that empower strength, awareness, and resilience while stacking and balancing on chairs as a parallel metaphor.

His diverse experience in education, performance, business, and health, has given him a unique perspective as someone who helps others develop high-performance cultures, and consider what it is to be a ‘daring human’.

Dan is originally from Toronto, Canada. Sixteen years ago, he chased a lovely girl to Adelaide and now has two amazing kids and lives on the coast in South Australia (with the same girl).

CATHAYSA VINA

Hello! I’m Cathaysa from Canary Islands, Spain. I’m glad to be part of our amazing teachers team for this years Soaring in the South Acro yoga Teacher Training in Australia!!!

I am an art lover.

Especially the performing Arts.

But I have a problem...

I can’t avoid merging them all.

And also, Art is not my unique love, because I love to teach.

And I wonder...

It is not the same thing?

From my point of view, an Acroyoga Teacher is someone capable of doing magic. Because it is not just about teaching technique. An Acroyoga Teacher sets rhythms, communicates clearly, gives support, guides the students to a safe haven. Acro Teachers combine all their skills, balancing awareness, creativity and playfulness. So YOU are going to become a SUPERHERO, or something similar.

Someone who can empathize with fears, motivate personal improvement and even heal wounded egos, someone capable of collaborating, co-creating and building a team.

I will be joining you in Goolwa in September, sharing my teaching pedagogy of CLEMI and Art tools with you. CLEMI is an Acronym for Consciousness, Liberation, Exercise, Maintenance and Integration. These 5 keys are a great foundation for any learning.

Since 2010 I have been sharing with acro yogis, actors, kids, adults, people with or without bodywork experience and it is really satisfying to see how people achieve impossible things (impossible for their minds). I love to teach fundamental skills because always you can go deeper and deeper. And one big thing is never lose the first time that you achieve something. That’s why I share the importance of have artistic, technical, anatomical, pedagogical and psychological tools.* I will share some of my Artistic tools you can use in your teaching and to get to know what skills you have and show you how you can teach from. My hope is that you like this way and use it in your training and/or in your life!

See you in Australia!
